BMW keeps amusing us with its luxury class, high-performance vehicles which are all better than their predecessors. The 2020 BMW M8 Competition Coupé is considered by some “The Ultimate M Car” for its look, features, performance and price.
Starting from the inside, one cannot miss noticing the new lighting offered in different colors of ambient light which gives the car its own mood.
The sport mode of the M8 Competition is not a set of pre-selected performance settings anymore. It is rather fully configurable, you can choose how the engine, the chassis, the suspension, the brakes etc. perform for you. You can have two configurations saved at a time and you pick them by pressing the small red paddles on the steering wheel. Last but not least, there is a “TRACK” mode which can be activated by holding down the “M Mode” button in the middle console for around 3 seconds.
From the outside, the vehicle impresses with its aerodynamic body shape which is also quite sharp and beasty. In addition, there are a few 20-inch wheel options which are unique for the Competition version of the M8. Carbon fiber elements around the exterior make the car even sportier and lighter, and the biggest of them is the roof.
The M8 Competition is fitted with a 4.4-liter BMW M TwinPower Turbo V-8 which is the same engine that is in the 2020 M5 competition. The base M8 version has 590 horsepower, with the Competition package having 27 ponies more than that, listed below together with the other engine performance figures.
Auto Trendy’s take:
The M8 Competition Coupe is the most expensive M car on sale right now with a base price of around €200,000, and that contributes a lot to this vehicle's being the ultimate M-car. It is really exciting to see more and more road-legal cars which are suitable for track days coming out on the automotive market, especially when it is an M-powered luxury edition car from a premium automaker like BMW.
