The Indian electric vehicle (EV) market is continuing to grow, with more startups taking their chance at developing solutions for the market. Auto Trendy first observed this trend with SUN Mobiliy’s electric auto-rickshaw and battery-swap model. Altigreen is another Indian company that has been working on electrifying the Indian vehicle market and has a goal to eliminate vehicular emissions in the country.
The people at Altigreen develop their own EV drivetrains and chassis, and sell whole cars directly to customers. The company already has several vehicles on the road and manufactures the following options:
● 2-wheelers (equivalent to 125 cc)
● 4-wheeler small commercial vehicles
● Modular hybrid chassis kit (4-wheels)
As can be seen, they are aiming to disrupt the smaller-vehicle market in India. So far, they have some competition in regard to the auto-rickshaws, but they seem to be ahead in 3- and 4-wheel small commercial vehicles.
Auto Trendy’s take:
Altigreen’s mission to make India’s vehicles emission-free is great, especially considering that India is in the top 5 most polluted countries in the world. A major part of the road vehicles in India are bigger than what Altigreen are currently selling, so could their vision be to eventually produce sedans, SUVs, and potentially trucks? It’s going to be a long journey for Altigreen to take over the Indian car market, but it would be interesting to see where the future takes them.
