The 2022 facelift of Audi A8 has been revealed, and for the last time. The vehicle in this form and under this name will not receive a successor as Audi is going fully electric. In order to present the newest version of the 5.19-meter-long flagship from Ingolstadt in a suitable light, the engineers equipped the A8 with new lights. Digital matrix LED headlights are what Audi calls them. In fact, they are like a video projector that spreads a kind of light carpet in front of the car with over 1 million tiny pixels. And of course, it adjusts them much more precisely according to the road situation compared to before.

Otherwise, in terms of power units, there is no change compared to before the facelift. One V6 each in petrol (340 hp) or diesel (286 hp) variant, plus V8 with two different power ratings (460 hp in A8, 571 hp in S8) and Plug-in hybrid version with more power than before (462 instead of 449 hp). Always with 8-speed automatic transmission. Rear steering wheels (standard on the S8) and an active suspension that adjusts depending on the road are optional.

Auto Trendy’s take:

Last year, rumours were that the Audi A8 e-tron will hit the market in 2025 to put an end to the conventional engines’ era with the company’s flagship. We haven’t heard about any changes regarding that event; therefore, we will be patient and inform you when more is out there.
