Four British companies, suppliers to the automotive industry, presented their joint project – the electric roadster Aura. The prototype is homologated for traffic on public roads, but currently no serial production is planned. Rather, the goal of the project is to demonstrate individual components through the machine, or more precisely, for the companies themselves to discover what they are capable of.
For instance, the people from Astheimer Design have designed the attractive body with hidden rear wheels for better aerodynamics. The electronics are created by Conjure – including the interior and the 5-inch display integrated in the center of the steering wheel which is quite impressive. Spark EV Technology took care of implementing the Android software. The driveline is the work of Potenza Technology, but there is not much data about it – it is only known that the mileage on a single charge of batteries with a capacity of 44 kWh would be as much as 644 km. In total, the batteries are two in number, one mounted at the front and the other under the chassis.
The key to Aura's efficiency is its low weight and aerodynamic design. The body panels are made of natural composite fibers and special fabrics, presented as "greener for production and recycling than metal equivalents".
Auto Trendy’s take:
The Aura roadster is definitely an interesting concept in our eyes, especially due to the fact that it is an outcome of an automotive supplier alliance. This is something quite unique for us and we are extremely curious about the performance of this vehicle. Thus, we wait for any further news on the progress, and we will not hesitate to share them with you. Stay tuned!
