Companies worldwide are opening their eyes and delving deep (and quick) into innovating emission-free vehicles. In terms of buses, all the big European names (MAN, Scania, Daimler) have been releasing competitive electric vehicles. Other players in the market include newer companies that are solely focused on electric buses, such as Ebusco. Few however have started their emission-free development as far back as CaetanoBus.

CaetanoBus, a Portuguese bus manufacturer, started its first environmental program all the way back in 1997. In the (almost) 25 years since, the company has had some headline-worthy innovations. Delivering CNG buses to clients in bulk, being the first company to have 100% electric buses services airports, and winning multiple environmental awards. Additionally, CaetanoBus was the first manufacturer to have front-entrance access to wheelchair users.

Now, the Portuguese company has delivered a hydrogen electric bus to the city of Barcelona. 7 more of these buses will be delivered as part of this order. Bus riders however may not easily spot that it is a CaetanoBus as it has been sold under the company’s branding deal with Toyota.

Auto Trendy’s take:

CaetanoBus has time and time again proven its innovative integrity within the bus industry. With innovations from points of sustainability as well as accessibility, the company has had many achievements. Delivering the first hydrogen buses to Barcelona is a great achievement as well, continuing to make European cities even cleaner. Although the Toyota logo may not be so telling, next time you see one just know that you may be looking at one of the cutting-edge CaetanoBuses.
