Could there be an electric powered muscle car?
Dodge tries to bring these two worlds together in the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Concept. In terms of design, the studio follows the traditions of the Challenger and Charger, but instead of a V8 engine, there is an electric motor under the hood.
The Charger Daytona SRT Concept has two doors and is actually supposed to be a Challenger, but it is reminiscent of the '68 Charger, and "Charger" fits better for a muscle electric car. The vehicle has four separate seats.
An exhaust system provides sound
Inside, the electric Dodge offers the typical driver-oriented cockpit with two monitors (12.3 and 16 inches) and a classic Dodge sports steering wheel.
New is the so-called "eRupt" gearshift, which changes an unspecified number of gears electromechanically, as well as an exhaust system with flaps, whose 126 decibels (dB) are comparable to the sound of the V8 unit of the SRT Hellcat. There is no information about the power, but it seems that the Charger Daytona SRT Concept will have 800-volt technology.
Auto Trendy’s take:
In an evolution, it has always been difficult for many people to forget the old and get used to the new things. Dodge seems to be working on trying to close this gap by helping petrol heads enjoy the new thing. Is this rather going to be a long-term success or a vehicle which is not relevant for the new generation? At this point, we can only make guesses.
