The future of Dodge is electric. Nevertheless, the powerful and noisy V8 Hellcat models will not leave the scene quietly. For that reason, the Durango SRT Hellcat returns to the stage for an encore, and of course, with the 6.2-liter Hemi engine with 720 hp. under the hood.
That means the muscular SUV with three rows of seats will continue to be damn quick. For those who need a refresher: in addition to the power mentioned, the engine has 868 Nm of maximum torque. In 3.6 seconds, you reach a speed of 100 km/h from a standstill. The maximum speed of the model is 290 km/h. These values are not far from those of the Charger- and Challenger models.
Originally, the Durango SRT Hellcat was only supposed to be produced for one year - until 2021. However, now due to high demand, production has been extended, and Dodge believes that demand will remain high. That's why it was decided to produce the SUV for another year.
Is there anything in the additional model that differs from the previous one? As far as we can tell, no – even the new photos look like they've been recycled from 2021. The motto 'If it ain't broke, ain't fixed' seems to apply here. It is assumed that the price will be slightly different.
Auto Trendy’s take:
We, at Auto Trendy, know that petrol heads will be very delighted after this news and that’s for sure. What we don’t know is how the market reaction towards another ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) car will affect the green image of Dodge. We hope that a profit today doesn’t take from the profits of tomorrow.
