Autonomous solutions specialist EasyMile has reached a new milestone with its partner, IVECO BUS. Starting back in 2017, the two companies (along with other safety and transport partners) joined forces to start development on an autonomous bus. IVECO BUS provided the vehicle and EasyMile developed its autonomous features.

This bus is 12 meters long and can safely hold up to 100 passengers. With extensive testing, it has been deemed to drive autonomously with a top speed of 40 km/h. Of course, this is lower than the required top speed of a public bus, further testing is being done to bring that speed up with the next goal being 70 km/h.

Auto Trendy’s take:

Safety is the number one concern when it comes to autonomous vehicles. With the amount of time and effort that has been put forth to ensure that passengers would remain safe within this bus, it is clear that all parties are focused on ensuring this safety. EasyMile has had multiple other projects regarding automating the driving of vehicles and keep positively surprising us with their growing list of partnerships.
