EasyMile and Terberg have come together for a self-driving terminal tractor. A terminal tractor is a very specific type of truck which is used to pick up, move, and drop-off cargo at ports. Terberg is extremely well known for its terminal tractors. EasyMile has made multiple headlines regarding its self-driving technology and partnerships with household-name OEMs.

The partners’ vehicle has successfully completed live tests at a terminal in Vlissingen, the Netherlands. This required the vehicle to be mapped with its required driving route and communication structures with the terminal’s systems. The tractor successfully completed its required tasks in an environment of mixed-traffic.

Auto Trendy’s take:

Day-by-day we are getting closer to vehicle automation. Official automation should and likely will start in closed-off, safe areas such as a terminal, and evolve into more open areas until eventually reaching our roads. EasyMile has been at the forefront of this automation and has consistently proven that its technology functions well in multiple environments and vehicle types.
