Israeli company, Electreon, develops wireless charging for cars. Similar to wireless phone charging, once an electric car is standing on top of an Electreon road, it would be charging. This solution works by installing coils under the road.

Electreon’s new project is in the very home of the American automotive industry – Detroit, Michigan. On a one mile road in Detroit, cars would be wirelessly charging in the parking lane. Furthermore, Ford is one of the supporters of the development of this road.

Auto Trendy’s take:

Good to see that Electreon is able to expand its market. Currently, the company installs the wireless charging under public roads. It may be interesting for the company to also develop the same technology for private places such as garages of electric vehicle owners or at logistic companies that use electric trucks.
