Israeli startup EVR Motors has pioneered a new electric motor generator for wind turbines. The company’s system is known as the Trapezoidal Stator Radial Flux Permanent Magnet Motor, or “TSRF” for short. It gets its name from its unique trapezoidal shape.

EVR Motors’ patent pending magnet system enables the magnets of the generator to be activated in more ways than traditional generators'. The result is a system that has an efficiency of up to 95%. The design also allows for decreasing the use of magnets, iron, and copper – which ultimately leads to a 50% weight reduction and 20% cost saving. The first motor that was presented had a power of 25 kW, however, EVR Motors plans to increase their motors’ power multifold as the company believes that this technology is easily scalable.

Auto Trendy’s take:

With the generator being used for renewable energy production, it is directly in line with the sustainability trend. Just how the wind turbines give us green energy, EVR Motors’ generators have less waste due to their size.

When scaling up, it would be interesting to see whether automotive companies implement this technology to their cars. Especially in the commercial industry, where every gram and millimeter could be used to transport a greater payload.
