The market for heavy motorcycles is shrinking, with the younger generation showing decreasing interest in such vehicles. At the same time, the market of electric bicycles (e-Bikes) is rapidly growing, with people worldwide wanting an efficient way to get from point A to point B which includes some exercise.

Harley Davidson have been a market leader in heavy motorcycle manufacturing for decades but are now, unfortunately, seeing the negative effects of a lack of a young audience interest. As a result, they are venturing into new markets and are releasing their very own e-Bike. They want to use their first e-Bike as a homage to their first motorcycle that was built in 1903, which was called the Serial Number One. The homage e-Bike will be known as the Serial 1.

Unlike regular e-Bikes, the Serial 1 will have some heavy-duty parts, such as a carbon belt. The bike will be a single-speed that will achieve a top speed of 20 mph.

Auto Trendy’s take:

With the automotive industry rapidly shifting to meet unique customer demands, a lot of manufacturers are pivoting in some ways to make sure that their brand will continue to grow. Harley Davidson have definitely taken an unexpected pivot, but we believe it to be a pivot in the correct direction. Specializing in two-wheel vehicles, they have the know-how to manufacture stunning bikes and it will be exciting to see them continue to grow in this new and unexpected direction.
