The world is talking about self-driving cars and India is intelligently tackling the autonomous trend from a different angle. Bridging the gap between Noida Airport and Noida Film City (in Uttar Pradesh), pod taxis will be constructed. Over this 14 km distance, travelers will enter the pod and be swiftly taken to their destination beating out all the heavy traffic that Indian cities are well too known for.

These pod taxis, according to pictures will be pods with four seats that are attached to railways above the city similar to a ski lift. Currently, there is no set date for when these will be available for public use however the Indian Port Rail and Ropeway Corporation Limited (IPRCL) have submitted their final documents to the authorities to start building the project.

Auto Trendy’s take:

Congestion has been a great issue in big Indian cities for decades and with increasing population, the traffic is only getting worst. Unique solutions are now being revealed that will help solve the intense traffic. With rails over the city, there would be no added traffic and a great view when travelling over this 14 km distance.
