Lilium has made headlines recently through an on-air interview on Bloomberg. The main talking point of this interview was the planned route of JFK-Newark. Daniel Wiegand, Lilium’s Co-founder and CEO, explained that everyone who’s ever been to New York has complained about the inconvenience of this route and would like a better solution.

With Lilium producing Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL), its aircrafts are a feasible way to tackle this route. No new railways would need to be built, and all road traffic could be avoided. The aircraft is set to have an on-board pilot. Furthermore, it will be following all of the same safety standards of current commercial airliners. Although this high-speed route solution is incredibly exciting, Lilium still needs about three more years to receive relevant safety certifications and let passengers onto the aircraft.

Auto Trendy’s take:

Auto Trendy has written about Lilium before, and it’s nice to see that there has been some major growth since then. Coming out of Germany and making headlines by implementing eVTOL solutions in the United States is sure to leave a big mark and gain further interest. It will be interesting to see how Lilium launches the solution and when it will be truly affordable and accessible to the masses.
