Rivian has been racing to launch its electric vans for a few years now. Still a very young company, it has already made major headlines with its technology and partnerships – such as the one with Amazon. It has just announced a partnership with Mercedes-Benz.

This partnership is set to develop two electric vans with a design that is optimized for production. One of the vans will be based on Mercedes-Benz Vans Electric Architecture (VAN.EA) while the second will be based on the Rivian Light Van platform.

Auto Trendy’s take:

This partnership can do both companies good. Mercedes-Benz has years of electrification development, but Rivian has electrification rooted in its DNA. Meanwhile, Rivian needs to drastically scale-up its production to become competitive and to offer its vans to the growing market demand.
