Daimler are continuing their mission for e-mobility with their new Mercedes-Benz eCitaro G. Based on a combustion engine bus design that Daimler have had on the road for years, comes the new electrified generation! Just like its predecessor, the eCitaro G is very spacious and can comfortably fit 145 passengers. Everything from driving components to the interior is designed to increase passenger comfort while driving.

The electric bus is fitted with heavy duty rails and measures at a length of 18.3 meters. Although the bus is very large, it has superb maneuverability and is able to safely drive on tight streets. The original Citaro bus was known for its exceptional maneuverability, however, Mercedes-Benz say that the eCitaro G’s maneuverability is even further improved, with increased comfort and safety in tight turns. When it comes to getting enough traction to the wheels during winter driving, the bus has two driven axles (rear and center) which will be enough to have grip in slippery conditions.

Auto Trendy’s take:

Daimler is really sticking to their goals of greener vehicles. When looking at all of their different vehicle types (passenger, bus, truck, etc.), it is clear that they are making major efforts to electrify their fleets. Other than improving their carbon footprint and passenger comfort, they have also been taking steps to produce green technology that is actually green. An example of this can be seen with their compostable battery research. Daimler are proving that they are market leaders for the electrification trend and will stay on the map with the quick evolution of the automotive industry.
