German startup, Sono Motors, is specialized in efficiently integrating solar panels seamlessly into road vehicles. Of course, Sono Motors couldn’t stop with a passenger car. The company teamed up with MVG (Münchner Verkehrsgesellschaft) – Munich’s transport company – to develop solar buses for the city’s roads.
There is no date yet, but it is guaranteed that the solar buses will be driving in Munich. This will help reduce the CO2 emissions within the city and save up to 2,500 liters of diesel annually. Buses are certainly one path for Sono Motors to go and with a quick browse, it is clear that the company has big plans to integrate their technology into all forms of road vehicles, commercial or passenger.
Auto Trendy’s take:
Sono Motors continues to impress with the projects that the company is taking on. This one is especially positive as partnering with MVG will help Sono Motors keep a city much cleaner than its counterpart diesel buses could. Munich also seems to be on the path to becoming one of Europe’s cleanest major cities with Sono Motors being only one of multiple green transport partnerships.
