Canoo, the American automotive startup, has signed a deal with NASA. With this deal, Canoo EV’s will be sent to the moon with the Artemis crew – the next crew to go to the moon. This will mark the first manned lunar mission in over 50 years.

Canoo’s flexible vehicle platform will allow the company to get the vehicles up to NASA’s very specific requirements. Although the Artemis mission is set to take place in 2025, Canoo will be delivering the vehicles by June of 2023.

Auto Trendy’s take:

This is huge for Canoo. A startup which was producing cool vehicles is now one that will be a major part of history. Everyone has the image in their minds of the first car on the moon. That car however was designed by Boeing specifically for the lunar mission. Canoo is also selling cars to the general public, so this partnership is unbelievable for publicity.
