NIO finally unveiled their first sedan this weekend. The ET7 has a sleek design and comes with advanced electric vehicle technologies. It will be fitted with autonomous driving sensors, such as, but not limited to: cameras, LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging), and GPS. The cameras that they use will have 8 MP resolution, which is over 5 times higher than the resolution of Tesla’s camera sensors. Unfortunately, to get the use of this hardware, the owner must pay a monthly subscription fee.

Additionally, two battery pack options will be available: 70 kWh and 100 kWh. The respective ranges of these battery packs are very impressive at 500 km and 700 km per charge. Before the unveiling reports, there were discussions of a 150 kWh battery pack, and NIO have confirmed that they will release this feature in 2022 and that it will allow for a driving range of 1000 km.

The ET7 utilizes a permanent magnet as its powertrain and has the following specifications:

Car, Auto, Autos, Automobile, Vehicle, Automotive news, Car news, Automatic cars, Car auto, Automotive Industry, Automobile Industry, Auto auto, Auto market, innovation(s), trend(s), AutoTrendy, AutomotiveTrendy

Auto Trendy’s take:

The innovation regarding the autonomous driving sensors and the driving ranges is quite impressive. The people at NIO are showing that they are ready to compete in the global market with both their designs and their systems. Although NIO is not the first to discuss a subscription system for its car’s features, it is the first to release a car with this service. It will definitely be interesting to see how NIO’s customers react to this service and how it will influence the business models of competitors.
