Northvolt’s electric generator that can power a construction site

Northvolt is not only developing batteries and battery manufacturing methods for cars, but is also greenifying construction sites. At least that is the first mentioned use case of the company’s mobile battery. This battery is adequately named the “Voltpack Mobile” and has already been used to power a 26-ton excavator on site.

Of course, such a battery cannot be light and has a weight of 3 metric tons. Although that sounds heavy, it is still not something to complain about as the Voltpack Mobile can power a construction site in place of a diesel generator. The excavator is one use case, but electricity on construction sites is also needed for basic utilities such as lighting. The specifications of the mobile electric generator are presented below:

Auto Trendy’s take:

Powering a 26-ton excavator is no easy task. Over a single hour, it would use about 10 liters of diesel. Scaling up over years of usage, it can be seen that such equipment is extremely bad for the environment. Northvolt’s Voltpack Mobile gives a solution that keeps the vehicle running, is quiet, and green. At Auto Trendy, we’re curious about the other use cases of the mobile electric generators as well. One that comes to mind is electric charging in places where the electric grid has not yet reached – at least as a temporary charging solution for such areas.
