Porsche currently only has a single battery electric car in its lineup, known as the Taycan. The German sports car manufacturer plans to grow its portfolio with two more electric cars by 2025. With this directional growth comes a need for an evolving strategy in order to continue maximizing profits. As such, Porsche will be focusing on developing its very own EV charging network.
Although an exact number of charging stations has not been mentioned, it is clear that Porsche will be bringing its luxury-style finesse into the world of charging. The stations will have lounge-like areas in which drivers can relax and enjoy a warm drink while waiting for their batteries to charge.
Auto Trendy’s take:
Rather than relying on the ever-growing public network of EV chargers, Porsche is seeing an opportunity to be a part of the game. With Porsche installing its own network, the company could have full control over the customer experience and continue to align the brand with a luxurious lifestyle. It would be interesting to see how many sportscar manufacturers follow and start building charging station lounge networks.
