INEOS Automotive has reached a milestone in its history by starting series production of the Grenadier 4X4 at its plant in Hambach, France, where the Smart was previously manufactured.

"We've come a long way since the project began in 2017 and this is an important moment for INEOS Automotive as a car manufacturer," said Mark Tennant, Commercial Director of INEOS Automotive. "That we have come this far is a testament to the resilience and hard work of the entire INEOS Automotive team, our development partners and our suppliers, for which we thank them. And we are already looking forward to making our first deliveries."

To reach more customers, INEOS Automotive has built an extensive network of over 200 sales and service locations worldwide.

The INEOS Grenadier is equipped with a 3-liter BMW gasoline or diesel engine. The diesel version has a power of 249 hp. and a maximum torque of 550 Nm, and the gasoline engine has a power of 286 hp. and maximum torque 450 Nm. The model uses an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox combined with a transfer case with mechanical control. The Grenadier, which is a highly modified version of the penultimate Land Rover Defender, maintains a wading depth of 800mm and ground clearance of a whopping 264mm, the INEOS Grenadier is an uncompromising off-roader that will serve its owners faithfully.

Auto Trendy’s take:

The whole purpose of establishing INEOS Automotive Limited in 2017 as a company was to fill a gap in the market for a practical, hard-working 4x4 engineered for modern day compliance and reliability. Despite targeting a niche market or a gap, the Grenadier 4X4 will inevitably enter a competition with some currently existing SUVs, such as its own inspiration the Land Rover Defender.
