Renault is the first car brand to offer the Waze app directly integrated into the car's multimedia system. The integration of Waze into the OpenR Link multimedia system with built-in Google services and its visibility on the 12-inch vertical screen naturally offers drivers improved comfort and safety. The driver can access real-time traffic information, favourite routes and saved destinations on the car's multimedia system screen without having to use their smartphone. The rest of the car's functions remain available even when Waze is activated.

This new Waze experience is now available in Europe to all Austral Hybrid and Megane E-Tech electric customers equipped with an OpenR screen and an OpenR Link system with built-in Google services.

How to access the app?

Customers can easily download and install the Waze app for OpenR Link directly from Google Play through their OpenR Link in-car interface. Customers can then create a new or use an existing Waze account for always free, safe driving.

Auto Trendy’s take:

Smartphone apps such as Waze are becoming very popular with drivers and have proven to be more efficient than the usual car multimedia navigation screen. We, at Auto Trendy, see this collaboration as a good step in giving a chance to non-automotive companies to bring added value to the industry with their products and services. This will hopefully introduce higher diversity in products’ functionalities which will ultimately mean more for car users.
