Well-known commercial vehicle manufacturer is releasing a completely new line of buses called Fencer. These buses are initially launching in the UK, but will eventually become available on a global scale. One of the reasons that Scania is launching in the UK is because the company already has 84 service centers over there. This means that any unexpected issues that may occur with a completely new line of vehicles can be supported in a timely manner.
The first bus to be launched in this new line is the Fencer f1. It’s a single-deck bus that is fully-built up. Scania says that the new chassis allows for a wide variety of sustainable drivetrain options. Namely, electric, hybrid, and HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil). The bus as a whole meets new Euro 6 Step E emissions standards and is planned to be on UK roads for the upcoming 10 years.
Auto Trendy’s take:
It’s nice that Scania are taking initiative regarding sustainable drivetrains and offering a solution that allows for several kinds. The service centers are where Scania is likely to make a large percentage of the revenues through service contracts. Furthermore, launching in an area where so many service centers are available will aid Scania with any unexpected issues that may arise when releasing a brand new line. Hopefully, this is just a safety net and the buses will be running with little to no issues.
