Schaffhausen, a Swiss location that is well known for the origin of IWC Schaffhausen’s timeless wristwatches, is leading the integration of autonomous vehicles. For over two years, an autonomous bus has been driving passengers throughout the city on a route that leads to the Rhein Falls.

Supported by the Schaffhausen municipality and developed by AMoTech, the bus drives freely within city traffic. It is reasonable that the municipality would provide such support, as the bus is one of the first level 5 autonomous ground vehicles in the world. Level 5 meaning that it is completely autonomous with zero input from a driver. This achievement is reflected by not only the lack of a driver but by the lack of a steering wheel on the bus.

Auto Trendy’s take:

A Swiss area known for innovations and developments in wristwatches is now at the forefront of automotive innovation. Whenever discussing the trend of autonomous vehicles, the main question that arises is, “when will it arrive?” Well, AMoTech was able to answer this question two years ago and initiate the integration of autonomous vehicles into non-autonomous traffic.
