The euphoria over electric mobility continues to grow. At the same time, the not very easy process of charging the batteries of electric vehicles continues to worry and literally repel a significant part of potential customers. Long wanderings in search of a charging station, then waiting until the charge is restored to at least 80 percent. Compared to the classic filling of petrol or diesel in the tank of the petrol station, electric cars require a serious amount of patience from their owners.
Amid the Twitter controversy, Tesla Motors’ CEO Elon Musk does not betray his entrepreneurial character with an unusual commercial flair: on the legendary Santa Monica Boulevard in Hollywood, California, the eccentric visionary plans to open a charging center for next-generation electric cars. At least 30 super-fast charging stations, a 24-hour restaurant, and a car cinema. According to the American press, the application for a building permit has already been submitted. All that remains is for the municipality of Los Angeles to approve it.
Rumors are that drivers will be able to get freshly prepared food from the chefs of the Tesla Hotel directly in the compartment or served next to the charging station. The movie poster will also be non-standard: the films are expected to last a little longer than the time to fully charge the battery or about half an hour.
Elon Musk keeps on amazing the world with his innovative ideas, which seem to come from the customer’s point of view. The innovative supercharging station idea sounds like an interesting one, however, that doesn’t mean it will turn out to be a good one in all scenarios. For instance, watching a movie in the middle of the day does not sound romantic to everyone. Nevertheless, it is a potential great incentive for current and future electric vehicle owners, and it might be a big help in the adoption of clean vehicles as a whole. We are staying tuned on this!
