After the world premiere on May 22, 2022, we have updated information for you regarding the new generation BMW M4 CSL, which we initially heard about at the end of last year.

Competition, sport, lightweight

Three things that unleash emotions. And they are usually an integral part of the most attractive sports coupes of the German carmaker. The acronym CSL (meaning exactly those three things) was previously only available for 3.0 CSL and M3 CSL. Now, however, there is a 3rd CSL number coming to life as well – the new M4 CSL. Exactly in time for the fiftieth anniversary of BMW M GmbH and almost two decades after the M3 CSL (2003).

Engine and dynamic characteristics: more power for the special BMW model

Due to hardware and software improvement on the bi-turbo S58 engine, it looks to be in great shape. 550 hp are available and 650 Nm of maximum torque. The transmission is 8-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive. The result: 3.7 seconds for the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h, 7 seconds later it moves at 200 km/h and above that you can reach the top speed of 307 km/h.

Only 1000 copies of this special edition vehicle will be released by BMW M GmbH and their production is expected to begin in July 2022.

Auto Trendy’s take:

The estimations from more than half-a-year ago on the power figures of the M4 CSL came to be a reality – and it is a pretty exciting one as we see. It is a competition sport lightweight vehicle with a power-to-weight ratio of 2.95 kilogram per horsepower (4.01 kg/kW) to provide the ideal platform for a dynamically noble driving experience. Moreover, the limited supply of 1,000 copies adds additional value and an unarguably special feeling to the future owners of this piece of art.
