Based on the Mercedes S 500, the people of Brabus have created a hot sports and luxury machine. For luxury-oriented fans of high speeds, who say the standard Mercedes S-Class is too ordinary, and who do not want to wait for the AMG version, Brabus has prepared a hotter version of the flagship from Stuttgart.
What is surprising is that this machine, the B50, is powered by just a 6-cylinder unit and is able to make 500 hp. The turbo engine pulls out 65 hp more than the standard version, with the help of an engine control module. Through tuning, the maximum torque is increased to 590 Nm, which is available between 1800 and 5800 rpm—quite representative of a gasoline engine. The sprint to 100 [km/h] takes 4.7 seconds only. The maximum speed is still limited to 250 [km/h].
In appearance, the B50 reveals its sporting potential with front and rear spoilers as well as vents.
Brabus's noble tuning doubles the price of the S-Class
Despite the large wheels, the loss of comfort is minimal. Depending on the driving mode, this S-Class lowers its suspension by 25 millimeters, which is an advantage when developing high speeds. Otherwise, the Brabus B50 is a classy hive in everyday life: excellent dynamic characteristics, excellent handling, and quite decent fuel consumption of 8 l / 100 km. If, of course, you want to constantly witness what a car can do, you will pay a solid bill at the gas station—after all, it is a car with 500 hp.
Speaking of costs: with the complete package for the Brabus B50, the price of the well-equipped Mercedes S 500 4Matic doubles from around €145.000,- up to €300.000,-.
