Porsche's first all-electric sports car is the new safety car in this season's innovative electric racing series. The Taycan will celebrate its debut on the track during the opening round of the Formula E season on January 28/29 in Ad Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.

Designed to be more than just a Formula E safety car, the impressively painted Porsche Taycan Turbo S flaunts the colors of the eleven teams competing in the Championship, as well as the colors of the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) and Formula E. It symbolizes the commitment of all Formula E players and the common path to the future of all-electric motor racing. At the same time, the car gives a visual expression of social values such as diversity and community.

"We are proud that Formula E has given Porsche this task – so important for the safety of its drivers," said Thomas Laudenbach, vice president of Porsche Motorsport. "With the Taycan Turbo S as the official safety car, we make an important contribution to track safety and also emphasize the importance of Formula E for Porsche Motorsport. The distinctive design illustrates our commitment to the successful future of this innovative racing series. Although we are rivals on the track, we are spreading this message to the world together. What's more, we hope that this allows us to appeal to younger target audiences who are not yet fans of motorsports.”

Auto Trendy’s take:

We, at Auto Trendy, believe that the 761 horse-power Taycan Turbo S is the ideal choice for the critical role of safety car in the World’s only all-electric motorsport held at the heart of iconic cities such as London, Mexico City, New York, Berlin, Monaco, and Seoul. Another thing we shall not forget is that this high-performance electric car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds thanks to its launch control which Porsche is well-known for. So now, we wait for Formula E to start so we can enjoy it!
