Volkswagen recorded a great achievement at the famous Euro NCAP safety test. The models ID.5, Polo and Taigo received the highest possible result with five out of five stars (5/5). The testers gave the all-electric SUV (ID.5) and two new compact cars with internal combustion engines excellent marks on all four criteria tested: protection of adult passengers, protection of children, vulnerable road users and standard assistance systems.

In the “protection of children” category, the ID.5, Polo and Taigo achieved 89%, 80% and 84% respectively. The “standard assistance systems” of the vehicles got assessed at 85% for the ID.5 and 70% for both the Polo and Taigo. In the “pedestrian and cyclist protection” category, ID.5 scored 76%, followed closely by Taigo (71%) and Polo (70%). The videos of the crash tests can be watched by clicking on each model: ID.5, Polo, Taigo.

Auto Trendy’s take:

With the five-star ratings for ID.5, Polo and Taigo, Volkswagen emphasizes its commitment to the highest safety standards and continues its string of successes: ID.4 and the compact ID.3 recently achieved the highest marks in Euro NCAP as well – in April 2021 and October 2020, respectively. In 2019, Golf and T-Cross also received the highest marks. Within an industry where the conversation is mostly about the environment, we should not forget that safety is also immensely important.
