Toyota has unveiled the SUV version of the latest Corolla model in July 2020. The Toyota Corolla Cross is expected to go into production in 2022 and many things are a mystery for now. However, here are some interesting points which are worth sharing:

The vehicle will be available as a Hybrid and will use a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) to transmit its power to the wheels. The Internal Combustion engine will have the following specs:

Type: 16-Valve, 1.8-liter, 4-Cylinder, In-line

Displacement: 1.798 cc

Max. Power: 138 hp @ 6,400 rpm

Max. Torque: 172 Nm @ 4,000 rpm

What we know about the electric motor is that it will be able to add an impressive 71 horsepower to the total system performance.

The interior is quite slick and looks simple. The seats can come in leather or fabric material. Additionally, the front seats have power adjustment and the rear are also adjustable manually. The car has a digital cluster and a navigation screen on the central console. A nice detail is the cupholder right behind the shifting lever.

Auto Trendy’s take:

We can all see an automotive market trend of SUV gaining popularity and Toyota is not missing its chance to hit that market niche as well. Other innovative aspects of the vehicle are the hybrid powertrain and the CVT. The car looks good in design as well as in the specs sheet. We are curious to see its first test results on the road.
