First introduced in 2017 to help the Portuguese postal service, Tugbot is a warehouse robot. It is autonomous and helps make warehouse processes more efficient. Apparently it runs so efficiently that it has almost zero total ownership costs after the initial purchase.
Tugbot navigates a pre-defined route while searching for a payload to carry. With multiple Tugbots, more complex tasks can be automated. Multiple big-name companies are already taking advantage of these unique robots and using them to aid the efficiency of their processes. A few names are Dell, Zalando, Carrefour, and Bentley.
Auto Trendy’s take:
Automation is becoming prevalent in all industries. From retail to manufacturing. The Tugbot vehicles are extremely practical and although its price is not publicly known, it likely saves major costs when it comes to factory and warehouse automation.
