What is Uber doing to encourage sustainability? The mobility company’s main focus is ridesharing and it does not own any of the cars. Instead, car owners become drivers through the company’s app. This isn’t stopping Uber from becoming a green-driven company.

Canada Electric Mobility is a project that is led by industry members with the goal of electrifying the nation. With its 2030 Action Plan, the industry members are expected to electrify their fleets. Uber has signed the action plan and has already started taking steps towards enforcing it.

Multiple changes to the drivers’ system have been made to reach this goal. One of which is Uber Green, in which any electric Uber is shown as such to the riders. The “Zero Emission Incentive” is another and has every EV or hybrid driver gain an additional dollar on their ride. Uber isn’t stopping there and has partnered with Greenlots (Shell-owned charger company) to expand an electric charging network.

Auto Trendy’s take:

Electrification must come from all players for it to be effective. Uber is showing its future-driven goals by signing and enforcing the 2030 Action Plan. With 71% of Uber’s drivers indicating their interest in electrifying, Uber is also showing that it cares about its workers’ wishes.
