Shell’s company ubitricity has a unique solution that converts regular street lamps into electric chargers for vehicles. With close ties within the UK market, some major events are happening to the growth of the company. Its technology is so promising, that a new goal has been set to install 50,000 of the on-street charge posts in the UK by 2025.
Currently, ubitricity has 3,600 on-street charge posts already installed and functioning within the country. There is major support from the government as well, which can be seen by the fact that the UK government’s OZEV (Office for Zero Emission Vehicles) is paying for 75% of the installation costs.
Auto Trendy’s take:
When we first heard about ubitricity’s innovative charging solution, we knew that there was something special. A solution that can make any congested city welcoming for electric vehicles. The UK government fortunately agrees and sees the street lamp to charger conversion as a viable solution as well.
