Volkswagen recently celebrated the world premiere of its electric SUV coupe with long-distance autonomous mileage. The company's flagship in the electric range uses the basis of the advanced modular structural architecture for electric models: MEB (Modular electric drive matrix). Volkswagen ID.5 is an SUV coupe from a completely new generation of cars with first-class qualities.
The model features rear-wheel drive, and its variants have 128 kW (174 hp) and 150 kW (204 hp). The ID.5 GTX has a dual-motor electric powertrain and a maximum power of 200 kW (299 hp). All versions in this model line are characterized by a strong character, uniting the qualities of the model family ID in a completely new and unique design with an expressive and elegant look.
In addition, ID.5 offers a hitherto unknown feeling of interior space along with state-of-the-art function management solutions with a new HMI (human-machine interface), infotainment systems and driver assistance systems. ID.5 guarantees full communication connectivity and allows wireless OTA (Over-the-Air) software updates and upgrades.
Auto Trendy’s take:
Volkswagen ID as a concept began its journey in the form of a contact hatchback for the city. What we observe now is the evolution of the line into different models such as the SUV ID.5. We, at Auto Trendy, have been observing a similar evolution with other OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) and we believe it is part of their plan for a sustainable future. With this move, companies secure innovative electric cars for all their current segments to replace the old models without having to lose customers in the future. Well, big changes come slowly but surely.
