Today marks the debut of Volta Trucks in France. The Swedish startup manufactures trucks and is the first in the industry to provide them as TaaS (Trucks as a Service), which means that the vehicles are leased in a similar form to a software subscription.

From today on, Volta Trucks’ Volta Zero is to be used by Swoopin in Paris. Swoopin is a provider of sustainable transportation as well as urban logistics services. The company focuses on optimizing the delivery of goods with the goal of achieving a sustainable supply chain. Additionally, the Volta Zero will now be used by several other high-profile customers and be displayed at supplier events for the upcoming four weeks.

Auto Trendy’s take:

When Volta Trucks initially came to Auto Trendy’s attention, what we found most exciting was the unique subscription-based business model, which has not been seen before. It seems that their marketing efforts are focusing less on the TaaS business model and more on sustainability. Although the business model is quite intriguing, it was not at all mentioned in their recent press release. This leads us to believe that the main selling point in the current times is in fact leaning closer to the sustainable functionality rather than introducing new ways to lease out fleets. Either way, partnering with Swoopin and showcasing the Volta Zero with several high-profile customers will likely be great for the future of Volta Trucks and help them to grow to be competitive in the industry.
