The new Volkswagen Caddy received the highest rating of five stars after passing the last series of crash tests of the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP). This assessment is evidence of the significant progress that the new Caddy has made in terms of safety compared to its predecessor – because the latest edition of the practical model managed to earn one star more than its predecessor, although the requirements of the 2021 test program have become stricter.
Volkswagen Caddy achieves a score of 84% for the protection of elderly passengers and 82% for the protection of children. As for the safety systems with which the car is equipped, Caddy also achieved high results, which contributed to the highest rating of five stars. In terms of passive safety, new systems such as head airbags on all rows of seats (whether two-, five- or seven-seater) as well as an airbag between driver and front passenger are key factors in the high performance. In addition, the seat belt reminder function also works on the removable seats - thanks to the wireless connection.
Caddy, the versatile talent of Volkswagen, which in its new generation is more like a van, uses the automaker’s new MQB (Modularer Querbaukasten) platform – the same as the Golf. The large number of driver assists make the Caddy even more attractive to businesses and families – and rumor has it that the Wolfsburg-based manufacturer has made the model significantly finer to make it a possible replacement for the Touran.

Auto Trendy’s take:
In our point of view, this is news about Volkswagen’s ability to learn from their mistakes as well as their determination to get better every year. Obviously, real improvements require no determination alone, but also skills and expertise. Well, we are guessing that VW has just claimed they possess those too and that they totally deserve their spot amongst the best car makers.
